CTIA Wireless 2011
Slated for March 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, CTIA Wireless 2011 is a premier event on the telco convention calendar. It represents a $1 trillion global marketplace and brings together wireless and converged communication, wireless broadband, and the mobile web, and is where the wireless world meets for three days of intense learning and networking. 2011 Wireless Customer Care Performance Study - from JD Power & Associates
"Now in its ninth year, the semiannual study provides a detailed report card on how well wireless carriers service their customers in three contact methods: telephone calls with customer service representatives (CSR) and/or automated response systems (ARS); visits to a retail wireless store; and on the Web. Within each contact method, the study measures satisfaction and processing issues, such as problem-resolution efficiency and hold-time duration. T-Mobile ranks highest in wireless customer care performance for a second consecutive time with an overall score of 758. Verizon Wireless follows in the overall rankings with a score of 743..."

Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 2010-2015 - from Cisco
Cisco recently released its "Visual Networking Index: Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 2010-2015" white paper. Filled with pertinent facts, charts, and forecasts, the 27-page study is actually an omnibus of data focused directly on the telecom industry, providing an overview from which almost countless details can be gleaned. Need to know what percentage of smartphone and tablet data traffic will be offloaded onto dual-mode and femtocell traffic in the coming four years? There's a table for that. Want to find out how much traffic is multiplied using today's high-end devices? There's an infographic for that. Cisco's "Visual Networking Index" is highly recommend for anyone with even the slightest interest in where the telecom is today, and where it might be going tomorrow.

US Residential Broadband Service: Speed Continues to Rise, Pricing Holds Steady - from InStat

"US Internet service providers were successful in 2010 in increasing the amount of available bandwidth to their subscriber base. Results from an annual survey of US broadband households show that downstream speeds increased an average of 34% in 2010, according to In-Stat."

"Multimedia content, such as Netflix streaming services, and popular games with online components, such as Call of Duty and Madden NFL, are driving households to connect their game consoles and creating a new foundation for future growth in online video, according to international research firm Parks Associates. The firm's new report Connected Game Console Update finds 64% of U.S. broadband households with an Internet-connectable game console have it hooked to the Internet, a major increase from 2007, when only 25% had their next-gen console connected."

"U.S. revenues from digital health technology-enabled solutions and services will exceed $5.7 billion in 2015, fueled by chronic-care monitoring solutions, senior aging-in-place services, and connected wellness and fitness apps and programs, a new industry report from Parks Associates forecasts.
According to Delivering Quality Care to the Digital Home: 2010 Update, industry revenues in 2010 hit $1.7 billion, and the projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for the next five years will be 27%. Mobile broadband will be a key growth driver as many emerging health devices and services rely on high-speed connectivity to track vital signs or enable interactive features."

"LTE equipment expenditure is expected to ramp up quickly in 2011. ABI Research estimates that LTE equipment spending will grow 120% in 2011 to reach almost $1 billion. This increase is supported by more than 185 deployments and trials around the world."
