Most Actiontec Modems, Gateways and Routers DO NOT require login by default. However, the username is set to "admin", and the password is left blank, meaning, there is no password, and as long as the password is left blank, no login is required to access the interface of the Modem, Gateway or Router. But, if a username and password is set, then login is required for accessing the user interface. The exceptions to this are the Actiontec Gateways and Routers made and branded for Verizon. Whether distributed by Verizon or sold through Retail channels, these Gateways and Routers DO require a login by default. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password". These are the only two scenarios possible for Actiontec Modems, Gateways and Routers. However, the username and password can be changed by the user at any time. So it is important to write down and save the new username and password when it is changed. If the username or password is lost or forgotten, resetting the Modem, Gateway or Router is the only way to regain access. Resetting the device to clear a lost password, necessitates a complete reconfiguration of the Modem, Gateway or Router.
