Winroute is a 3rd party program provided by Actiontec on the CD that accompanies the PC750. Winroute supplies Card Services for Windows 2000. Card Services helps the Operating System recognize the PC card, and if the card is a storage or memory card, Card Services helps the OS assign the the card its Drive Letter. Once a Drive Letter is assigned to the card, the data (pictures etc...) are easily accessible by going through My Computer to the Drive Letter assigned to the card, and opening it.
Note
On systems using Windows 2000 or XP, the PC750 installs using a "native driver", meaning a driver that is supplied with the Operating System. So, there is no driver for 2000 or XP on any of the CDs that accompany the PC750. Do not attempt to load any of the drivers from the CD when installing the PC750 onto either of these systems. Doing so, may corrupt the operating system. If this has happened, remove the CD and restart the computer. If the computer will not restart normally, booting the computer from the operating system CD, should allow a "Repair" to be run.
The drive or card reader portion of the PC750 is the same size as a 3.5" floppy drive, and will fit into it's drive bay. The PC750 is PnP compatible.
Incompatibilities
Unfortunately, many modern wireless cards fall into the group of PC cards mentioned above, 3.3v CardBus cards. These PC cards will not work in the PC750.

| 2001-07-01 | Driver - PC750 XP-SP2 PCMCIA The driver for the PC750 is native (built-in) to Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, after loading XP Service Pack 2, and with some OEM Operating System installations regardless of Service Pack, the computer seems to be unable to correctly identify and install the PC750. If the problem is just a matter of a missing driver, this download can correct it. Clicking the link above will initiate the download, and at the prompt 'Do you want to run or save this file?' select 'Save'. At the following 'Save As' dialog, be sure to select a familiar location to save the file, like 'My Documents' or the 'Desktop', so that the file will be easy to find later. |

| 1999-05-26 | ISO for PC750 CD 0410-0014-000 This is the ISO file (CD image) for the original PC750 CD. This is the best CD to use when installing the PC750 onto an older system using MS-DOS, Win3.1/MS-DOS, Win95/98 and WinNT. Windows 2000 and XP do not require a CD, they install PC750 using native drivers that are part of the Operating System. However, Windows 2000 does need Winroute, so it is available for download here, separately. |
