    Driver/Firmware Updates

    2001-04-26   Firmware Update - FM560LKI P620T3LKI
NOTE: Actiontec Electronics will not provide a refund or replacement, for products that have failed due to the loading of incorrect firmware or the testing of custom firmware.

(To identify your Actiontec product, look for the model number. It is located on the FCC sticker, found on the bottom or back of the product. Typically the model number is in the sticker's upper right hand corner.)

The firmware update program runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000, but will not operate in other OS environments. This update is only for the FM560LKI modem. DO NOT use with the FM560LK model or your modem will become inoperable.  The downloads includes a 'Readme.txt' with firmware loading instructions and diagnostics.

Clicking the link above will initiate the download, and at the prompt 'Do you want to run or save this file?' select 'Save'. At the following 'Save As' dialog, be sure to select a familiar location to save the file, like 'My Documents' or the 'Desktop', so that the file will be easy to find later.

    1998-07-02   Driver - DataLink V90 (FM560LKI) International
Along with the RAW-Driver there is a TraveLink Country selection program included in the download for configuring the FM560LK modem for use in many countries, and another program that can provide Card & Socket Services for MS-DOS and Windows 3.x systems.

(Our RAW Drivers do not use a 'Setup' program to install, instead they are installed via the Windows Hardware Wizard. Once the drivers are extracted, each Operating System has it's own folder with an INF file, that the Wizard uses to install the driver.)

Clicking the link above will initiate the download, and at the prompt 'Do you want to run or save this file?' select 'Save'. At the following 'Save As' dialog, be sure to select a familiar location to save the file, like 'My Documents' or the 'Desktop', so that the file will be easy to find later.

  • Note: This CD supports three additional modems. The driver and software this modem is in the folder 'FM560LK(I)'. The 'I' at the end of a model number indicates that the modem is designated as International. Since the letter 'I' is in parenthesis, it means that both the International (FM560LKI) and U.S. (FM560LK) versions of the modem are supported by the software in this folder of the product CD. Some of the International modems have additional software or language support, but not all. Sometimes the difference is minor or not even visible, but its presence, allows the modem to be used in other locals.

How is a replacement Actiontec CD obtained?
There are two methods for obtaining a replacement Actiontec CD.
    1. Downloading the ISO for free from the Actiontec Support Site. If an ISO is available, it will be posted along with all other Drivers and Software, on the support page for that product. Instructions for converting the ISO file into a CD can be downloaded along with the ISO.
    2. Contacting Actiontec Technical Support by phone and purchasing one. Actiontec CDs can be purchased for $6.95 (including S&H) within the USA, and $8.95 (including S&H) for customers in Europe and the UK.
To purchase call: 1-800-371-0442 (USA), 0800-180-4434 (UK)
Please have your Visa or MasterCard ready, along with product name and model number, or CD part number if available. (MasterCard and Visa are the only cards Actiontec is able to accept.)

How can I determine if my PC card modem has cellular capabilities?
We have non-cellular and cellular compatible PC card modems. You can identify the modems that are cellular compatible by looking at the ports. The cellular modem has two ports, a 4-pin land-line (telephone) port and a 15-pin cellular connector (port). The non-cellular modems have only the 4-pin land-line (telephone) port. The modems that have cellular compatibility are the (28.8K) FM288B, (33.6K) FM336C, (56K) FM560RK and FM560LKI. The DataLink FM560RK 56K modem and the DataLink v.90 International modem are both cellular compatible, but quite different. When fully updated, both are compatible with the v.90 standard. But the FM560LKI is International, and therefore has additional software that allows it to function in many countries other than the United States.
