Note
An 802.11a wireless adapter runs at 54Mbps as do 802.11g wireless adapters, but they are not compatible with each other. This is because they do not use the same frequency. The 802.11a operates at 5GHz and the 802.11g operates at 2.4GHz. While this does prevent the two adapters from being networked together, it does have one good aspect, and that is that the frequency difference allows both networks to operate in the same environment, to co-exist without interfering with each other.
