Minimum System Requirements

The Blue USB IPW (Internet Phone Wizard)

  • Windows 2000 or XP
  • 400Mhz Pentium processor or better & 128MB of RAM
  • CD-ROM drive and an available USB port 
  • A touch tone analog phone and an active analog phone line
  • A valid Internet connection
  • A valid Skype account

    The Blue IPW is compatible with Skype software v3.0 and below, though some users report success with 3.1 and 3.2. The specific system hardware and software installed seems to be the determining factor.

  • Windows 98, 98SE, 2000, ME
  • A Pentium processor or better & 16MB of RAM
  • CD-ROM drive and an available USB port 
  • A touch tone analog phone and an active analog phone line
  • A valid Internet connection
  • Internet Explorer 6.0+ (recommended)
  • Other browsers such as Safari or Firefox, need to have Java Script enabled
  • An ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider)
  • The Green IPW is NOT compatible with Skype

    NOTE:  Due to hardware differences, the Green IPWs firmware can not upgraded to make it the equivalent of the Blue USB IPW.

    There are drivers for Windows 2000 and XP included in this download.(There is an '.EXE' program, but do not attempt to run it, to install these drivers, instead they are installed via the Windows Hardware Wizard. Once the drivers are extracted, a folder is created with the appropriate support and an INF files, that the Wizard needs to install the driver.)

    This driver is the same as CD v2.1 # 0410-0024-001 that is also posted here, in the form of an ISO (CD image).

    Clicking the link above will initiate the download, and at the prompt 'Do you want to run or save this file?' select 'Save'. At the following 'Save As' dialog, be sure to select a familiar location to save the file, like 'My Documents' or the 'Desktop', so that the file will be easy to find later.

    User Manual - UP101 Blue USB IPW   This is the User Manual for the Blue USB Internet Phone Wizard (IPW). There is no PDF User Manual available for the older Green USB IPW. The only manual that is available, is the paper version that was provided with the Green USB IPW originally. Unfortunately, due to the age of the document, it is no longer available.
     
    UP101 Driver Installation Instructions   This driver is for the Blue Actiontec USB Internet Phone Wizard (IPW). Due to hardware differences, this driver is NOT compatible with the older Green Actiontec USB IPW.

    How is a replacement Actiontec CD obtained?
    There are two methods for obtaining a replacement Actiontec CD.
    1. Downloading the ISO for free from the Actiontec Support Site. If an ISO is available, it will be posted along with all other Drivers and Software, on the support page for that product. Instructions for converting the ISO file into a CD can be downloaded along with the ISO.
    2. Contacting Actiontec Technical Support by phone and purchasing one. Actiontec CDs can be purchased for $6.95 (including S&H) within the USA, and $8.95 (including S&H) for customers in Europe and the UK.
