Actiontec Ships Triple Play VDSL2 Routers to Several North American Service Providers
Versatile, high performance routers support a wide range of demanding multimedia applications, including HDTV, voice over WiFi, media sharing, and online gaming
Sunnyvale, Calif. – November 9, 2010 – Actiontec Electronics today announced that several telecommunications service providers have deployed its award-winning portfolio of ultra-broadband VDSL gateways. Deployed models include the Q1000 and V1000H Wireless N VDSL Modem Routers. Both products are designed to fuel the next generation of DSL, IPTV, and Voice over IP services, enabling these providers to roll out a robust bundle of high-bandwidth data, entertainment, and voice services.
Several of the deployments followed a close collaboration between Actiontec and the service provider to determine the optimal feature set for their network and subscriber needs. In addition, the Actiontec routers were thoroughly tested in a rigorous series of lab and pilot deployments.
To date, Actiontec has shipped more than 21 million Internet access devices including DSL modems and IPTV devices. The company leveraged this leading experience in modem design and supply chain procedures to meet the specific needs of these carriers, while delivering great value, affordability, and a future-proof platform.
“The selection of our VDSL platforms by these providers further validates Actiontec’s reputation for delivering reliable, high performance products,” said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics. “The fact that one SKU can be used for multiple deployment models and the built-in support for future Value-Added services were a key factor.”
Actiontec’s Q1000 VDSL router supports VDSL2 access technology with auto fallback to ADSL/ADSL2, along with wireless 802.11b/g/n, a Gigabit Ethernet switch and robust memory architecture to simultaneously support a wide range of demanding multimedia applications, include HDTV, voice over WiFi, media sharing, and online gaming.
The V1000H router also features VDSL2/ADSL2, a wireless N radio, Gigabit Ethernet switch with additional support for HomePNA (HPNA) technology. With support for VDSL, Gigabit Ethernet, and HPNA on the WAN (carrier side), the V1000H dramatically reduces capital and operational costs for carriers, as it offers a single CPE solution for their entire deployment territory – in metro areas, rural, and anywhere in between.
The units were pre-configured with carrier-specific branding and a customized GUI. In addition, both devices support TR-069 remote management capabilities that enable the service provider’s technical support staff to remotely customer problems without a costly truck roll.
