2018 Winter Olympics Coming to You in VR
Fierce Cable reported that NBC will livestream the 2018 Winter Olympics in virtual reality. They offered VR coverage back in 2016, but it was only available the next day. This year, customers can pay for a subscription for 50 hours of live stream VR coverage covering dozens of events.
Customers will need to have access to the NBC Sports VR app and pay for a subscription. They will also need a compatible VR headset.
Covered events will include the opening and closing ceremonies, alpine skiing, curling, snowboarding, figure skating, ski jumping, ice hockey and more. They will also offer VR replays and one daily 360-degree video.
NBC is excited for this opportunity. “With the help of Intel’s industry-leading virtual reality technology, NBC will deliver a transformative experience that will bring to Olympic fans an entirely new perspective on the speed, thrills, and excitement of an Olympic Winter Games.”
