Amazon announced that its Instant Video store will begin featuring 4K content this October. Samsung has signed on to support this new service on all its new UltraHD TVs.

This development follows Netflix’s embrace of 4K back in April of this year with its series “House of Cards,” which employed a bitrate of 15.6 Mbps using the HEVC/h.265 codec.

Previously, Samsung had shown 4K broadcasts of World Cup warm-up matches on the Portuguese network provider Meo, and delivered an ultra high-definition opera performance through the Vienna Opera app.
