Amazon Takes Another Piece of the Pie

Exciting news for streaming video users who also own Alexa devices. Amazon recently announced that Hulu, Showtime, NBC, CBS and PlayStation Vue apps can be controlled by their Alexa devices when paired with a Fire TV.

This development is another notch in Amazon’s belt by tying together more of its products and helping to boost sales of both the Echo and Fire TV.

With the new tie-in, you can pause, fast-forward, rewind, start over and skip to a next episode while streaming TV or video on one of the integrated apps.

By using the power of this new Video Skills API built into Amazon Echo, you can even search for shows, change the channel of the TV and start playing episodes of your favorite binge-watching series. The really cool part is that the device works across all these connected apps, so you are not searching just one venue but all your connected sources.
