Apple Increased its App Download Limit to 200MB Without Wi-Fi
Apple made changes to the App Store, increasing the download limit for apps from 150MB to 200MB without needing Wi-Fi.
Users with limited data should keep an eye out, however. With this increase, users won’t see a message telling them to connect to Wi-Fi to download an app that is below 200MB. This means that there is a potential to use up data faster. If you have unlimited data, then no problem.
Apple seems to increase its download limits every few years, or as cellular data services improve. The last one being in 2012 when data services improved from 3G to 4G.
It is likely that this 150MB to 200MB upgrade is a result of 5G networks being tested by companies like T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. This is Apple’s way of preparing for faster speeds when 5G finally hits the iPhone.
