The nine largest cable operators added 382,000 broadband subscribers in the second quarter of 2014—crossing an important milestone where the number of cable broadband subscribers now exceeds the number of cable TV subscribers.


In Q2, cable companies represented 99% of all growth in the high-speed data market—telcos adding only about 2000 broadband subscribers over the same period. As a result, the cable industry now commands nearly 60% of the total U.S. broadband segment.
