Can Star Trek Help CBS’ Streaming Service?

The new Star Trek: Discovery series on CBS has received many positive reviews so far.

This is the first time a new Star Trek series has aired in a decade, and in that timespan, we’ve seen massive changes in TV viewing habits.

The series has aired five episodes, and CBS has already seen a 200% increase in their subscriptions. According to their press release, this is a record number of subscriptions in a single week.

But what does this mean for streaming services such as Netflix?

Earlier in August, Disney announced that it was pulling its content from Netflix and starting its own streaming service instead. If more companies start doing this, this will be an inconvenience to the viewers as they would have to subscribe to multiple streaming services.
