‘Facebook Avatars’ Imitate Snapchat’s Bitmoji

Within the code of Facebook’s Android app, an unreleased feature exists called Facebook Avatars. This feature lets people create personalized, illustrated versions of themselves to use in Messenger and comments. You can choose your skin color, hair style, facial features and more. Sound familiar?

Essentially this function is Facebook’s version of Snapchat’s Bitmoji. With it’s incredible popularity, the Bitmoji app has spent years on the top-10 apps chart, so it’s about time Facebook caught on. Since the world is ever-moving towards visual communication, standard profile pictures no longer represent the breadth of our emotions.

Avatars are the answer. They can be altered to convey a variety of reactions and situations with immediacy. At the click of a button in the “Like” bar, you will be able to drop in the Avatar that best depicts you.

Again, this feature is unreleased and Facebook has not announced when they will publicly test it. However, Facebook has confirmed that they are looking for more ways to help people express themselves, so it’s only in due time.
