Google recently introduced its Google Home device, which could be seen as an attempt by the search giant to move into the service provider channel. The device automatically plugs into the company’s Chromecast TV hardware, and enables users to use its conversational interface to search for content by voice. In particular, it could become much easier to search for video on Google’s own YouTube, which contains a plethora of content that might otherwise be overlooked.
Google is also working on partnerships with other content providers, like Netflix, and is expected to enter negotiations with others, such as HBO Now, Hulu, and CBS All Access. With Google Home automatically integrating with the 30 million Chromecast devices in use today.
