More than Half the US Gets Both Pay-TV and OTT
New research from Parks Associates shows that OTT is on the rise, and appears to be potentially expanding the market with dozens of new entrants in the past couple years.
According to the study, highlighted in Broadband TV News, more than half the nation not only subscribes to Pay-TV, but also OTT. One of the major findings is that the OTT industry’s major players—Amazon, Hulu, Nextflix, etc.—are anchoring many of these experiences, with newer OTT players building on these services.
Brett Sappington, Senior Director of Research at Parks Associates says: ““Several factors are driving an increase in partnerships with and among OTT video services, including fragmentation of content, the success of bundling, polarization in the OTT subscription market, a low threshold for OTT service survival, and low awareness of many OTT service brands.”
