Turner Broadcasting, a division of Time Warner, announced recently that it will debut a subscription streaming service before the end of this year. Turner CEO John Martin noted that the company will introduce “at least a couple of direct-to-customer products” in 2015, but declined to provide more details other than saying that the offerings could involve Turner’s existing networks, or perhaps brand extensions.

Turner President David Levy also commented on the announcement, adding that the company is targeting the so-called “cord nevers,” defined as people who don’t want to enter into an expensive contract to access a lot of cable channels they will never watch. Levy hinted that there are well-heeled companies, both domestic and international, who have already expressed interest in including Turner’s networks on as-yet undeveloped online video services.
