Time Warner Cable broadened its Wi-Fi reach in North Carolina, hooking up parts of Greensboro and Wilmington to its hotspot network that now includes 4000 access points. The company also noted that they’ve deployed 125,000 hotspots in the U.S. to date, all of which can be accessed by qualified TWC subscribers.
Time Warner, which is in the midst of being acquired by Charter Communications, is also a member of the Cable Wi-Fi roaming alliance. Members of this alliance have installed upwards of 400,000 hotspots to date. Said Rob Cerbone, VP of wireless product management for TWC: “We’ll continue to deploy additional hotspots in popular, high-traffic areas so our customers can enjoy fast, reliable connections for all their wireless devices on the go.”
