YouTube TV App Rolling Out to Roku & Apple TV Soon!
Cable cord-cutting enthusiasts that have been excitedly awaiting the YouTube TV app for Roku or Apple TV promised for late 2017 will have to wait just a little longer. According to CNET, the full app will be rolling out in early 2018 and cost a monthly fee of $35 for the service.
Unlike the free YouTube app which is used liberally to stream how-to and cute animal videos, the new YouTube TV app geared for Roku and Apple TV will include local TV stations (for over 80 cities) and national including ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, AMC, ESPN the Disney Channel and others.
YouTube TV is currently available for Android and IOS devices as well as Xbox One and some smart TVs.
YouTube TV’s biggest competition is SlingTV, DirecTV Now and Hulu with Live TV. Due to the popularity of the free app, YouTube TV is expected to perform well with the launch of the Roku and Apple TV apps.
