1 in 4 US Broadband Homes Plans to Purchase a Smart Lock within 12 Months
Parks Associates’ Smart Door Lock Market Assessment shows that one in four US broadband households plan on buying a smart door lock in the next 12 months, showing the expanding demographic of product owners.
Consumers are buying smart door locks with the intention of increasing home security, expanding their home control system, or using it as a standalone device. Parks Associates identified smart speaker integration as an opportunity to build a stronger user experience in the smart door lock sector.
Additional findings include:
- 35% of US broadband households consider smart door locks to be affordable.
- In 2017, there was an average of 1.2 smart lock devices purchased.
- New home builders are starting to include built-ion smart home solutions, creating a partnership between home builders and smart home device companies.
