The 18- to 44-year-old age group accounts for 71% of adults in the US that have a live-streaming ‘skinny TV’ service, according to Leichtman Research Group.

They also found that 16% of adults between the ages of 18 and 44 have a subscription for services like Sling TV, DirecTV Now, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV or PlayStation Vue. Of that, 43% switched directly from a traditional pay-TV service. This can be attributed to cost-cutting patterns as customers seek to build their own a la carte channel and streaming bundle.

Additional findings include:

  • 93% of those with a vMVPD service also have a SVOD service from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and/or Hulu.
  • 25% of those between the ages of 18 and 44 have a vMVPD subscription in addition to a traditional pay-TV service.
