A new study has found that 75% of consumers consider the quality and brand of connected car services an important part of the decision-making process when shopping for a new car. Connected car services typically offer streaming music, Internet radio, navigation systems, and local search for restaurants, points of interest, etc. Connectivity also includes hosting a Wi-Fi hotspot, a wireless Internet connection to which other mobile devices can connect.


According to Orvar Hurting, an executive at Ericsson, “For the second year in a row, we are witnessing a growing trend where consumers in different parts of the world are not only increasingly aware of the term ‘connected car,’ but they are placing greater importance on connected car features and services.” Others are encouraged by consumers’ awareness of connected car services, and their eagerness to include them in their next vehicle purchase.
