NYC Protects Its Citizens With a New Security App
Cybercrime is a problem in New York City, and Mayor Bill de Blasio is doing something about it. This past Thursday NYC announced that they are releasing a public app for New Yorkers as a part of their NYC Secure initiative.
Making New York Safe to Browse
NYC officials state that the app is meant to supply residents with cybersecurity tools that help them stay safe while online. The program was designed to help users monitor insecure WiFi networks and scan for malicious code on their mobile devices. New Yorkers can rest assured, your privacy is a number one concern, and the app will not collect any personal data whatsoever.
The app will be available for download this summer for iPhone and Android users.
de Blasio said on Thursday, “Now that our lives are more and more online, it’s our job to make sure people’s lives are safe online.” He continued with ”Our streets are already the safest of any big city in the country — now we’re bringing that same commitment to protecting New Yorkers into cyberspace.”
