Streaming News Is Big News
There is no shortage of streaming news stations, and you can access them from anywhere with an Internet connection. More traditional cable networks are moving into standalone SVOD services all the time.
This year, Fox News has plans to launch a subscription-based service called Fox Nation. CBS is turning both Entertainment Tonight and CBS Sports into streaming services supported through advertiser’s contributions. There are rumors that these changes will further inspire CNN and MSNBC to make similar moves.
More Options Yet More Competition
The jump to streaming services will generate more competition between the networks that may or may not benefit viewers. However, age and demographics are significant factors that weight in whether or not consumers will sign up for a paid subscription for something they are already watching on TV.
FierceCable expects CNN to make an aggressive move into the arena based on their parent company Turner who is knee-deep in streaming venues.
