LiFi wifi via light

Lightning fast broadband speeds may not be a metaphor much longer. Telecoms firm O2 believes that through using light waves, the superior 5G connectivity experienced outdoors could be translated inside buildings.

Using light sensors, devices would be able to connect to the Internet. This would be especially useful for public transportation such as trains or in overcrowded areas. Current devices aren’t designed with light sensors, so devices would require an adapter to utilize Li-Fi. Simply put, in an area with limited Wi-Fi, Li-Fi could provide a temporary connection while you’re in range of the light. Flip the light switch and the connection is lost.
