Hulu+ Live TV and YouTube TV Made Big Gains in Q4 2018
While Hulu+ Live TV and YouTube TV don’t report quarterly subscribers, research firm MoffettNathanson estimated that both companies did well in the fourth quarter of 2018. Hulu+ Live TV added an estimated 500,000 customers, and YouTube TV added an estimated 400,000 customers, making moves on the current MVPD market leaders. MoffettNathanson estimated that Hulu+ Live TV actually surpassed DirecTV Now, who lost 267,000 subscribers during the quarter.
Additional findings include:
- DirecTV Now’s drop in subscribers was attributed to customers dropping the service after coming off of steep promotions.
- The entire US pay TV market lost around 247,000 subscribers.
